Our response to the proposed restriction on the use of PFAS(May 2025)

1. Proposed Restrictions on the Use of PFAS

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released a proposal to restrict the use of PFAS in March 2023.

PFAS is the generic name for organofluorine compounds, of which there are said to be more than 10,000 types.

If the proposed restriction on the use of PFAS is formally adopted, it may prevent the use of PFAS for products in Europe.

At present, the proposed restrictions on PFAS use include “wires and cables,” but neither the specific restrictions nor the schedule for them have been clarified.

2. Our Response

We will keep a close watch on the proposed restriction on the use of PFAS and continue to work on research and development of better materials in order to expand our lineup of non-PFAS products (*). We will consult with customers who use products containing PFAS, such as fluoropolymers, about switching to a different type.

Customers who require non-PFAS products (*) prior to the restrictions should contact us using the inquiry form.

(*) Non-PFAS products refer to the range of PFAS substances that can be surveyed at this time.
